Let’s make art together! - About Me
My name is Sinéad. I’m a queer and trans photographer.
My current journey with photography really started to take shape during the pandemic. I have always felt compelled to make art but never really found what I connected with. One day, I just asked one of my friends who works at a club if I could come in take photos of the shows. And then I had a friend who let me use their studio to practice doing more artistic portrait style photography and they let me learn how to use lights.
That’s when something happened in this journey for me. Instead of just taking photos, I started to appreciate the connection I was making with people. I would look through the series of photos and see the moment when someone started to relax and become comfortable not just with me but with themselves. It felt like I had stopped being an artist and became a documentarian, like I could give them the present of seeing themselves.
I learned from taking self-portraits how much it improved my own sense so self esteem to see myself in these moments. I felt like I could appreciate being unshackled from the male gaze and its expectations. So when I started to take more boudoir photos with friends, all of this started to make sense. I genuinely enjoy helping people find their own path to self empowerment.
I hope that we can work together too.
